The ‘Encounter with the senses' events are back: a series of in-depth meetings combined with a sensory experience.

It starts on Thursday 20 November with ‘Aromi di viaggio. Le rotte del caffè tra Oriente e Occidente’ (Aromas of travel. Coffee routes between East and West), a journey through scents, flavours and faraway places. The meeting will be held in collaboration with Laboratorio di Torrefazione Giamaica Caffè, which will offer us a tasting of some of its finest blends: Afribon, a creamy blend of natural Arabica beans; India Bababudans Peaberry, dense, sweet and fragrant with oriental essences; and Santos Montecarmelo Doce Selecto, chocolatey with a pungent aroma of nuts and honey. 

The second event, on Wednesday 3 December, in collaboration with L'arte dell'infusione dal 1913 - Pompadour/Peter's teaHouse, is entitled “Winter scents. Stories of spices, festivities and trade”. We will explore the traces of spicy aromas in literature, trade routes and traditions, then taste 'Caldo abbraccio' - a warm and welcoming infusion with hints of cinnamon, rum, raisins and orange peel - and “Il fiore di Herat” (The Flower of Herat): a refined and enveloping drink that combines the rich and unmistakable taste of saffron with the aromatic notes of verbena, fennel and lemon, the production of which supports a small community of Afghan women.

The last meeting, entitled ‘Gazing at the sky. Reading the universe in manuscripts and among the stars’, will allow us to reconstruct some fundamental stages in the history of astronomy through ancient texts. The senses of taste and smell will give way to visual contemplation, thanks to the collaboration with the Circolo Astrofili Veronesi (Verona Amateur Astronomers' Association), which will accompany us with telescopes and planetariums to discover the celestial vault.

All events will take place at 5.30 pm and will last approximately 1 hour and a half.
