Where knowledge meets emotion', the Capitolare's thematic, cultural and creative workshop, is back.
Numerous events are planned for autumn 2024: we start in October with two thematic meetings to discover the heritage of the Capitolare. On Saturday 12 October at 4.30 p.m., by great demand, we will once again present ‘Magicians, alchemists, soothsayers and inquisitors’, curated by Valeria Nicolis. A journey through mysterious and fascinating pages, to discover the secrets of ancient books of magic.
On Thursday 17 at 5.30 pm instead, Ilaria Ferrari will lead us to discover ‘Aldo Manuzio. History of a man who changed the printing press’. The visit will retrace the history of Manuzio's typography and the great innovations he introduced to the art of printing, in advance of the temporary exhibition that will be open from Friday 18 October.
Visits, lasting 1 hour and 30 minutes, will cost € 15 - including, for those who wish, the possibility of autonomous access to the new exhibition spaces, before the start of the event.
In November we will host a new initiative of ‘Meeting the amanuensis’: a chancery calligraphy course held by Ernesto Casciato, head of calligraphy didactics at the Museum of Sign and Writing in Turin and organiser of courses on the most diverse writing styles, writing media, the art of miniature, the preparation of inks and natural pigments, and the prototyping of new writing instruments. During this two-day event, we will experiment with the cancelleresca, a splendid typically Italian Renaissance style, in its uppercase and lowercase variants. It will also be possible to see some manuscripts from the Capitolare's collection up close, and to visit the exhibition spaces.
Programme: 2 and 3 November 2024 9.30 a.m. - 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. - 6 p.m.
Limited places - maximum 15 persons. Participation fee € 170 / reduced € 160 for ICOM members, FAI, VeronaCard and Coin Card holders.
Finally, two ‘Encounters with the Senses - themed tours combined with an experience’ are scheduled. Wednesday 13 at 5.30 pm we will talk about the ‘Scent of Books’, with an experience in collaboration with Smell Atelier di Arti Olfattive. On Wednesday 27 November at the same time, we will explore the world of herbaria with ‘Mirabile natura. Herbaria, miscellany and botanical gardens', followed by a tasting of Azienda Agricola Pernigo's artisanal syrups.
Duration 1 hour 30 minutes, tickets € 15.
The promotion of the events was made possible also thanks to the contribution of the Veneto Region.
