In the month of June, the Fondazione Biblioteca Capitolare di Verona is organizing a new series of events: a multisensory journey in 4 stages to discover the book object, with a final wine tasting inside the evocative cloister of the canons.
Wine partner of the initiative will be Cantina Tinazzi: for more than 50 years producer of wines from Veneto and Puglia and ambassador of the quality of made in Italy in the world, attentive to the combination of tradition and innovation and sustainable creativity.
The meetings will be held on Wednesday afternoons (June 7, 14, 21 and 28) at 6 p.m.
Each of the appointments will explore different features of the ancient printed book, considered from the point of view of its materiality: from the processing of paper to the making of the binding, from the watermarks revealed by the light on the pages to the illustrations, from the structure of the title page to that of the typefaces, and on to later interventions such as possession notes, dedications and censorship. Each meeting will be independent of the others: it will therefore be possible to attend either the complete cycle, for an overview, or one or more individual appointments.
The path will therefore go on to analyze a multiplicity of sensory dimensions related to the book object: from the tactile to the olfactory, represented by the different textures, textures and scents of the various types of paper, to the visual and graphic aspect in its various facets. A dimension of multisensoriality that is also reflected in the other great protagonist of these events: wine.
Each Aperitif in Capitolare event will in fact be accompanied by the opportunity to taste a fine wine from the Tinazzi Bio Veneta line, each time from a different vine variety. These wines are part of an organic line cultivated in the vineyards of the area, enhancing its biodiversity: each one bears the name - in Venetian dialect - of a small bird belonging to the local fauna, and each one brings with it its own symphony of aromatic notes, colors and flavors that will be linked to the experience of explaining and viewing some ancient printed text specimens chosen from the Capitolare's collections.
A relation, the one between wine and printed volumes, that we can find since the origins of the latter: it was inspired by the wine press that Gutenberg conceived the printing press back in the 15th century. That connection will now accompany these new initiatives with which to enjoy a taste of history and culture alongside a good glass of wine.
